Newspapers in the printed form are still declining as more and more turn to news on a device.  Newspapers are still relevant in both forms but print is complemented in digital form.

The most obvious effect of Online news is the general decline in newspaper readership.  The evening daily newspapers are long gone and most community papers are struggling to remain relevant.

Interestingly the NZ Herald and Herald on Sunday have recently increased readership so all is not lost yet.  So yes, newspapers can form part of a media plan but should be complimented by online or other mainstream media.

It is a well known fact that print advertising builds trusted brands.  It is hard for a digital only campaign to do the same which is why major brands still use print.
